Connecting the lead to the Splashdown clip is a pain so I fixed a Mustad oval split ring (other lead clips would probably work too) to each Splashdown then I connect the lead to the split ring.
As to hooks the Mustad Aberdeens available from the UK work in my Splashdowns and are reasonably priced.
