"As regards recreational fishers it is noted that the ministry still allows long lines in the form of boat long lines (no more than 2 per boat) and kon tiki long lines with 25 hooks. Why not reduce the number of hooks these long lines are able to use to say 10 hooks. This would surely help in reducing recreational TAC numbers and mortality. Better still ban long lines from recreational boats altogether. These seem unnecessary in a time of fish finders and modern rods and reels. "
