I have made plenty of snares from old break away sinkers. remove the old brekaway wire and then use 15kg line to make good sized sliding loops throught the old wire holes in sinker then open up the eye of the top attachment wire and slide on two 6 to 7/0 hooks and then close wire up again. bait up and cast leave for five minutes and then slow wined in always works.
