Ok I finally got to have a play with this reel and spool it up with 8kg mono. Afterwards I thought I had better take the left side plate off and take a look inside and it needed a bloody good clean up as I found old salt deposits built up inside the left side plate. I also stripped down the right hand side of it and it was not as bad but still needed a clean up so I decided to take my chances and strip this thing right down to nothing and just remember where everything went. Well it was a lot easier than I thought, washed all the old grease off the gears with some WORX (similar to CRC) that I got from the warehouse a while back to fix a squeaky door hinge on my car and then re-lubed everything that had grease on it with fresh bearing grease that I used to use on a chainsaw I had when I was doing forestry, and then put it all back together hey and it still works.
