So I was going to get a flat in Glasgow. But...I live in London. I've seen the pictures, I've done the research. So do I really need to do the pointless three minute viewing?
I call a couple of places. "Hi. I'm interested in the place on Gaylord Street. I live in London though so I can't view it. That's okay. I'll take it."
They can't do that. Either I or somebody on my behalf has to view the flat. What's the logic behind this? I can get some junkie off the street to go in my sted and that works for you? Fuck off with this nonsense.
So I asked my potential employer there if he knew anyone who could view a property for me. I said I could pay £50 for this. He ignored this for half a day so I sent a follow up saying that upon reflection, I could just make a day of it and view a few properties. He ignored this too. So I'm not sure about this job. But I don't give a shit. I can always get another job in Glasgow. I mean, it's Glasgow. The city of the future.
So yeah, next week I'm going to have to take a 4.5 hour train journey up there. £65 each way. Then there's the whole hassle of trying to find the flat. Even in London I have trouble finding the flats for these viewings. And then if I schedule more than one (as I should in case something falls through) then this just compounds the problem. And there's the whole time restraint because the earliest train gets me there at 2.00 and the latest train departs at 5.30 or so. So...things are really going to have to come together. Have to find two or three suitable flats that have viewings available in this three hour window.
There are decent places put up just about every day, I guess. So hopefully it works out. It's ridiculous that they can't just give you the flat sight unseen, though. And sending some junkie to view it? Why would that solve the problem?
Anyway, still talking to this 23 year old. Said her birthday is coming up. I mentioned that it's a bit odd with her age and that it's mostly young women who match me on Tinder. She said that doesn't like guys her age and prefers older men because they're more mature, wiser, and more experienced (winky emoticon).
Her deaf brother is currently on trial with like six other deaf guys for defrauding the Department of Work and Pensions out of £1 million. So she talks about his innocence. He very well could be. I saw plenty of innocent people on trial. Well..."plenty" might be overstating things. But there were some.
I don't care about this nonsense, though because whatever happens, be it Scotland, Finland, or suicide I'm getting out of shitty London.
