I just got back. All day with this shit and for nothing. One place was literally the worst place I've ever seen. There was a chubby Chinese woman living in this place, it stunk of some Chinese food, there were flies all over the food, and it was the smallest flat in the universe. They wanted £500 for that dive. It was also on the second floor and required going up a very narrow spiral staircase. I was there for 30 seconds. The neighbourhood was also awful. Nothing but dilapidated tenement houses. Literally every house had peeling paint and broken stairs.
Second place they couldn't find the keys. But they didn't bother telling me until 5.00 yesterday when it was too late for me to make alternative arrangements to view a flat with another company. They said they might find it by today. They didn't.
Third place was with the same company as non-existant flat number two. They had the keys this time. Some tatted up b###h chav showed me and some other guy who they booked at the same time the flat. It was far from impressive. It was listed at £600 but the chav said it as £575 on her papers.
So it was that or nothing. So I called them and said I'd take it. They said that somebody else wants it too and asked a bunch of questions about how much money I make and whatnot. Oh, and when questioned again it was £600, of course. She made a mistake earlier.
She said the landlord would decide who to give the flat to. But upon reflection, I don't want it. The place was shit, I don't like how they jacked up the price like I'm some kind of an idiot, there was bizarre, jew-like clause for all of this agency's flats that says there's a mandatory 3.5% rent increase after the first six months and then at the end of every year. So the first year is actually a 7% rent increase.
So no way. I'm not rewarding these greedy, incompetent, sleazy Jews. I'll go back this Friday or next week to find something else. If I don't find anything, who gives a shit? It's not exactly a dream job that I'm going to. And Glasgow isn't a dream city.
I mean what's going on? The places were the same price as what I've seen in London for SHITTIER places. I didn't think it was possible.
These places were in the city centre. I'm going to look at the West End for next time.
On the bright side, it wasn't that hard to find the places. Google Maps worked even offline, as I thought. And since they cancelled that second viewing I had time to sit and listen to some bagpipe music. There was some bagpipe festival or something. There were people in kilts carrying bagpipes and drums all through the city and there were some of these homos playing in some square.
So yeah, pretty awful but it's just that one company, really. The other company who showed that horrendous flat seemed otherwise semi-decent. And I'm only looking at places that are members of the NAEA or whatever it is. I don't even want to know how terrible the non-members are.
