But I have almost everything packed away now. It's great. Just the essentials are left unpacked.
I went through my old clothes today. I planned on throwing them all out because it's almost entirely stuff that I got in the US and never wore in ten years of living in the UK. A lot of t-shirts. It never gets that hot here. But I figured maybe one day I'll move to a warmer climate and these clothes will come in handy. So I kept all of them unless they were ripped or had serious staining that couldn't be washed out.
I also found some good stuff that I couldn't believe was in this pile of crap. I found three white work shirts from TM Lewis (which is where I get my work shirts). Why were these in here? I wear these type of shirts every day. Not white, though. Maybe that's the problem. White is maybe too formal. But then why did I buy them three times?
And there was a tan button down shirt that I used to wear all the time casually. And a blue striped button down shirt that I also wore casually. I was happy to find them again. I've reduced my casual wear to two shirts: a red striped shirt and a black shirt. I like the red one because it never gets wrinkled and the black one is a good size and you can't go wrong with the colour. So it will be good to add those other two to the rotation.
Still, I managed to throw out about half or 3/4 of a bin bag. That's pretty good.
I also made an appointment to have my broken television picked up. £20 for that shit. Can you believe it? Although, you can have up to seven boxes of televisions and computers and whatever.
So I was going to throw out my old computer, monitor, and laptop too because it's all under the same £20. But I boxed them up and I saw how neatly they fit in the boxes and I thought about how they still work as far as I know. And they don't take up much space. And I don't want to risk some hobo taking the stuff in the night even though I took the hard drives out. So it all got a reprieve. I'll take that stuff with me. But the television is broken so it has to go.
That little tv was one of my first purchases in the UK and it had a good run. Survived a lot of moves. Provided a lot of entertainment. I'll be able to get one of those new fangled flat screen tv's now.
Thinking about that, my old computer monitor was flat screen. I mean flat as opposed to the old boxy CRT televisions and computer monitors. And that monitor was bought probably....seven years ago. Something like that. So I'm pretty sure that this tv was one of the last CRT televisions sold.
What else...that's about it, I guess. Some people are coming to view the flat on Saturday. I guess I'll take my wardrobe apart on Sunday. The rest of my furniture was never assembled in this flat except for this little end table and a tv table that I use for my computer now. Can take those apart last minute because they're easy. Going to put the tv out on Monday for a Tuesday morning collection.
I'll gradually box whatever I have left to do over next week. George Foreman grill, plates, cups, clothes that I actually wear, toiletries, maybe something that I missed. Hey, I discovered that I have a coffee maker. I bought it when my pervert mother was visiting.
Then I guess on Friday I'll do the last minute packing of the essentials. So...computer...tv table...that's about it, I guess.
