The mob boss sits next to me. He was a big, intimidating guy. He puts his arm around me and says, "Video games? You're supposed to be working." I try to explain that I'm on break but he says, "What kind of work do you want do?" I think about it for a minute. I'm trying to give an answer that won't require violence because I appreciate the nature of the work that he'll have on offer. But anyway, I say, "One where I don't have to deal with anyone." He laughs and says, "I thought you were going to say 'a gamer'". He's being very patronising.
He also won't take his arm off of me so it's very uncomfortable. Then the next thing I know, I'm having my hair cut. But I'm already bald so what's actually happening is they're putting hair on. So they show me the mirror and I see that I now have a full head of shaggy hair. This guy still has his arm around me and I say, "What? You didn't like the baldness?" and he says "No". I don't quite agree because I think that a shaved head would be suitable for a mobster but whatever.
It's all in preparation for this new job that I'm going to do. And I'm waiting for him to reveal what this perfect job is for me but I wake up before I find out. TV licence guy or somebody was knocking on the door. I don't answer unsolicited callers. And I don't have a tv so I'm in the right.
Had another dream last night that contained a business idea so brilliant that I wrote it down. It involved looking at old encyclopedias, searching for the "font" entry (it wasn't "font", it was some old tyme word), then scanning these ornate, old-fashioned example fonts, tweaking them so that they're a bit more high-definition, and selling them as new fonts.
Even in the cold light of day, I think that there's something to this. I don't know how much money there is in fonts but if the ornate script of my dreams actually does exist in old encyclopedias, it would be worth stealing and bringing to the modern age. Assuming somebody hasn't done so already.
Do you suppose that there are lost fonts out there? I'm sure there are. In the dream, I was using some 1950s Encyclopedia Britannicas that we had as a child. But even without access to them, do you suppose they've been scanned and can be found on archive.org?
Hmm...seems like the 1911 version is there. I won't bother looking up "font" because it takes forever and I doubt that's the word and even if it was, the 1911 edition doesn't seem to have many pictures. Actually, that didn't take long. They only have "font" as in "fountain". And there are illustrations for many of the entries.
What about "script"? No, there's only "scrip", which they give as a possible corruption of "script".
This is kind of interesting. Let's look up "Islam". Wow. One tiny paragraph. That takes me back. Before they started destroying everything, nobody gave a shit about the religion of peace.
Let's try "Moslem" just to be safe. I notice they use the old spelling. And "Mohammad". No, nothing for either. Page after page for "Jews", though. Maybe they just didn't know much about Mohammadans at the time. I also searched for "Muhammad", by the way.
Unfortunately, a very sympathetic article on "Jews". Three guesses who wrote the article and the first two don't count.
