Then this morning, I was working but there wasn't time to go.
It was no emergency. I didn't feel that I was going to have an accident. I was in complete control the full two days. But I knew something was brewing.
So this afternoon, I let loose. Didn't seem like much but I looked down and this thing was bent and coming out of the water. It went all the way down there. Had to be 12 inches.
Recently downloaded the entire series of the Wonder Years. I was shocked that it was only on for 6 seasons. Also weird: the first season is only 6 episodes. Slightly less weird but still weird: seasons 2-5 all have 23 episodes and seasons 6 has 21 episodes. I thought that a normal season was 16 episodes.
I watched an episode called Odd Man Out. If it's any indication of the show generally, I never realised what an asshole Kevin Arnold was. He gets mad at Jew Paul because Jew Paul doesn't want to trade Kevin a baseball card. If Jew Paul doesn't want to trade a baseball card, that's Jew Paul's right.
This leads to Kevin calling Jew Paul an "ugly four-eyes that nobody likes". It's outrageous. Jew Paul should have never spoken to Kevin again, but of course he does.
Kevin also tries to take advantage of unpopular fat kid Doug Porter by encouraging him not to buy Boardwalk during a game of Monopoly. When Doug Porter is winning the game in spite of Kevin (and Jew Paul's) attempts, Kevin (and Jew Paul) trick Doug Porter into going home. Then Kevin plays "hoops" with Jew Paul. The only laugh of the episode from me is when I heard this as "poops".
Then Kevin is trying to make Jew Paul jealous of his new friendship with Doug Porter. So he pretends to have a good time with Doug Porter when he spots Jew Paul (and Jew Paul's new friend) on their bikes. Kevin is using Doug Porter (who he doesn't like) to make Jew Paul jealous.
Then Doug Porter gets his arm broken by falling out of a tree to retrieve a model airplane that Kevin flew into there.
Then Doug Porter, now handicapped, asks Kevin to be his "buddy" and help him put his jacket on and carry his books and whatnot. This takes place in the school cafeteria. He says to a reluctant Kevin, "You are my best friend, right?" to which Kevin says, "No, I'm not your best friend and carry your own stupid books" and storms out of there, leaving Doug looking like a fool in front of all of his classmates.
The whole episode is about what a selfish asshole Kevin Arnold is. And yet, I remembered this episode within seconds of watching it. I remembered it fondly as being a particularly good episode. Not at all. Kevin is a terrible person throughout.
