Been catching up with The Wonder Years while I wait for the return of the internet.

Watched that episode where Kevin spends 22 minutes trying to make a phone call. It was uncomfortable viewing but made better by Wayne. Wayne may turn out to be the most sympathetic character as an older viewer. His abuse of that asshole Kevin really saved the episode from being a total disaster.

Then it was Dance with Me. In this episode, Kevin asks Lisa (the girl he called in the previous episode) to the school dance. She agrees but then accepts an invitation from another boy. So Kevin is depressed and contemplates suicide.

Another pretty bad episode. This was actually the season finale of this abbreviated six episode first season.

Finally, season two. It begins with Heart of Darkness. Kevin no longer has that homely season one appearance.

Oh, I should have mentioned. Carla, Paul's girlfriend, appeared in the final episode of season 1. Possibly both episodes I've mentioned. I think she appears throughout the show's run. I didn't realise that she started way back in season 1. Must be some Jew producer's daughter or something.

Back to Heart of Darkness. This must be a list episode. I don't remember it. It involves Kevin befriending a stoner and they drink beer and smoke cigarettes in the woods. Then they go to a sewer or something and the guy tries to scare Kevin and Paul. There's no reason for any if this. There are a lot of creepy images. They zoom in on a cockroach for example, and the boys stepping on what looks like a dead mouse.

I can see why this episode would be banned I'd indeed it was. Also, a lot of dream sequences. They're not good. But if you ever wanted to see Kevin Arnold in his underpants, this is the episode for you.
