Went to work today. It wasn't even far. It was like a 30 minute train journey. But I'm exhausted now. I guess I did work overtime, though. Haha. But "overtime" in this sense means working past 4.00. And I start at 10.00. Well, really I didn't start until about 11.00. And there were two 20 minute breaks and an 60 minute, at least, lunch.
I was looking at a job in the US Virgin Islands. Pays $20/hour. That's a lot less than I'm getting and it's even less than even the lowest paid jobs that I see in the US (they start at about $25/hour). But it's the Virgin Islands. They probably have a low cost of living.
Man, no way. Not according to Numbeo anyway. Everything is more expensive there (except for alcohol and cigarettes) and most things are literally two to three times as expensive as in the UK.
Rent, utilities, food, just about everything more expensive there and WAY MORE expensive in most cases. £0.85 for a loaf of bread in the UK. Sounds about right. £3.91 in the Virgin Islands.
I guess rice is half as much, though. So that balances things out.
Ruined my dream. The requirements for that job were quite low too. No certification required.
I'll have to think about it, though. Get out of this cold. Although, then you have the opposite problem. And with heat comes bugs. And maybe lizards and shit there.
According to the travel websites, mosquitos seem to be the most complained about insect there. I don't care about those. You get those in the US too. Never saw one in the UK. But they're tiny, they bite, if you see one you just kill it. The bits itch a bit. Big deal. They go away. Also, I've only ever seen mosquitos at night and only outside.
