When you look at this from every angle, there is only one loser & that is the repairer. The car owner is not going to pay & anyone suggesting that they should needs a reality check. The third party insurer is going to argue that they only cover the costs of the vehicle damage & not any repairs that are currently unsettled. Perhaps the customer could put in a claim for the loss of his/her car & you the "repairer" could put in a claim for the loss of revenue in a separate claim. The garages public liability cover is another way I think that you could peruse a claim. Although I don't think that the long-term effect of this would make it viable i.e. next years premium & any excess would negate any benefit of a claim.
