I see your point about "the contract" side of things. I am glad that it worked out fine for you & your customer. However it could be argued that, until the customer has received or accepted the vehicle back into his/her custody that the transaction is not complete. It is common for body shops to ask the customer to sign a satisfaction form at the time of collection. I understand that in the mechanical world this would be unworkable, but the point I am trying to make is that, it could be argued that the job may not have been completed satisfactorily & as such may not be eligible for a claim. Example: - You have a problem that has caused you to take your 53 plate Corsa back to the dealer for the third time. You are loosing confidence in there ability to sort your problem & you go to collect it. They inform you that “this time we definitely had fixed it” & “We had to replace the MAF sensor & it turned out the ECM was also faulty, so we replaced it also. Unfortunately the car was destroyed in a “””whatever””” Blahdy blah... We would be grateful if you would settle the bill. A more unscrupleless insurer may not be as forthcoming with payment. That coupled with a nuisance customer & it’s stormy waters ahead!!!
