"You get what you pay for..." "Quality not quantity...." "More haste less speed..." "Buy cheap, buy twice..." Blahdy blah! I am disappointed that BP would put their name to a cheap marketing gimmick like this. I use BP for my oil supplies & I take comfort from the fact that they are on top of their game when it comes to oil. I feel that they are cheapening their name in doing this type of thing. We all know how hard it is to attract the right quality of staff. I don't think that any quality guys are going to percolate down to this level of servicing & if they do they will be ridiculed for "having idea's above their station". How are these outlets going to deal with a motor with leaking rear cylinders & soaked shoes. & When the cylinder is replaced, the brake pipe shears, as the union is undone. If it’s a Peugeot there will be a choice of four cylinders Etc etc... You know how it goes. Thirty minute service my ar5e!!! I suppose this is were they make the killing. The basic service is £99.95 & after all the extra work is done you are faced with a £500 bill. This week I have had my eyes opened to the workings of a local Vauxhall dealer. They quoted a guy for a service on his 02 plate Omega 2.2 (42,000) miles. He takes it in asks for a MOT at the same time. They call him mid morning & explain that they had mistakenly quoted for a small service when a Major Service is required. The rear dampers needed changing & the front pads were worn. He rang me (fed up) for a quote. Now I am no Vauxhall expert, but I am sure that these are due a full service & timing belt at this mileage. I asked him to call the dealer to ask about his belt. They said “Oh yes it does appear that you need a new timing belt”(no mention until prompted). He paid for his oil change & MOT (£99.98) & booked it in with me for all the work that needs doing. The rear dampers are damp & not knackered by any means. My point in this extended post is…. If a dealer can’t decipher the needs of a particular vehicle of their own make, then how are these Xpress outfits going to perform? The customer message remains the same.. Find a workshop that you trust & stick with it. Regards Dave Hill
AAhhh that’s better!!!
