I'm afraid that you guys are looking at this from the technicians point of view - not the customers. If a well known company like BP says that they can service a car in 30 minutes the customers will believe them and they will go there because it is easy and convenient. If you don't believe this then think how many tyres etc you don't sell due to the convenience of the fast-fits.

If they put four guys on the car for thirty minutes then they probably can complete a service on it - two man-hours is plenty to service most cars. So the customer gets it done while they wait for a fixed price in a modern efficient looking environment - why does anyone think that this won't take off??

And btw, Kwik-Fit are doing cambelts as well as servicing.
