So who's responsibility is it to know the timing belt history on a vehicle..? ours or the customer's ? if you are servicing the same vehicle regularly for the same customer then maybe we should, however if you only see the vehicle for the first time, how are you supposed to know if it was done or not when it was supposed to be. I personally don't think your responsible for this one...
We print a notice on all of our invoices in CAPITAL LETTERS stating that "the timing belt replacement on your vehicle is important, please ask us for details" you would be surprised how many timing belt jobs that gets us and also gets the customers thinking about it even if they only had a set of brake pads !!
We've had loads of customers ring up after they've got home enquiring about the notice on their invoice.
If it does end up in court I would also be willing to chuck some dosh in your kitty.
