Very few customers resist this advise. We have only learnt this through bitter experience and we now rarely ever do a belt without now replacing the water pump on all European vehicles. You can get away with it on Japanese engines but we still warn. A little time and care to explain this at the time of booking creates more work, shows off your professional attitude, explains why your costing is more than the competition and saves you much grief in the future. As for stickers we have all these warnings built into our standard job lists as we are computerized they are automatically attached to all our servicing work or timing belt jobs so they never fail to appear and we don't have to think about them. To date we have over 60 warning messages attached to various jobs we narrate on the computer. I cannot stress enough especially in todays trading climate how much you need to cover your back.
