Hi Mike and John. My own experience is almost identical to John's. The revenue were intent on ruining me ( They do not believe about this trade). I did win out, but not without a lot of effort and becoming disillusioned. I gave my loyal customer base to another good local garage. I gained continuity for my customers and jobs for myself and two lads. I think that one or two employees and two or three bays is a bad size ( unless specializing and charging accordingly). You need to be able to support one man to take bookings, organize parts, invoice customers, etc., without being involved on the tools as well. I would not lease premises again. Best to buy even if you have to borrow. I may go self employed again, but not with employees, perhaps mobile diagnostics, as I started out. However I find things quite comfortable just now. I have evenings and weekends free, (most of you will not comprehend this concept). And have had the first carefree holiday for 24 years.E-Mail me for phone No. and a chat if you wish, Cheers for now , Tom
