I have been self employed since 1987,started mobile for 4 years,then the business just grew and grew,now have own premise,with 3 full time in w/shop and my wife in office who does reception and books.
Some very good advice already,but i would like to add that i would NEVER take a partner,(Been there Ect)and get someone in the office to handle phones, ordering,invoicing,paperwork seeing customers etc,ect,ect.depends how you handle it but i need to be 50% office/50% workshop.you cannot do it all.
We work 5day week 8.00-5.30.and i take plenty of hols,there is money to be made,but if the paper work is not right you might as well give it all away.
Its hard work with some sleepless nights,but loads of benefits,i now could not work for someone else.
