I live in the middle of a row of Guest Houses and quite a few of them have been receiving phone calls from the PRS, the Guest House owners have been asking their associations what to do and they have been told DO NOT PAY ANYTHING as they do not need to.
Interestingly the calls all appear to be coming from the same person as if that is the only person there requesting payment and this person always refers to a "Contract" being made between you and them and when you get down to it - it is worded as if it is voluntary contribution.

With all the SCAMS about I would just assume this to be one of them, unless proper documentation is provided from a proper address. Be very careful of sending cheques or making payments payable to just "PRS" as that could be cashed by anybody using PRS as their business name.

Who can guarantee that it was the PRS who contacted them and how did they contact you? Was the paperwork official? Was this the same for everybody or is there a scam working alongside the real requests?
