Have any of you looked at other European countries which have government licensing?
The same problems are still there! Quality does not increase with more bureaucracy. Nanny state is not the answer. The motor trade has a bad name, just like various other trades. This does not mean that every garage has a bad name!
In my opinion, advancing vehicle technology will render a lot of rogues useless.
What we have to look out for is vehicle manufacturers trying to make our job impossible by making technical information and tools difficult to get hold of and very expensive. As well as vehicle manufacturers forcing garage/mechanic licensing agencies to make life impossible for independent garages. This has happened/is happening in Holland, Germany, Switserland etc.
