Yes i think that computorisation is going to have a big effect on us Independents that take vehicles for mot for customers. We are going to have to try an educate our customers that they are better off having it serviced and mot'ed at the same time, which will include an emission test
If you take a customers car for test and it fails after you have checked it over, is the customer going to hold you responsible for paying for the retest and your additional time
The only way to ensure it passes it to carryout a full pre mot check....with your time for taking it, and the test fee, that is going to cost about £150:00
The other problem i can see is that if you book a vehicle in for mot and you find a problem, you may not make your mot slot, so have to re-book, and with mot testing time extended, that means fewer mot slots and longer lead times.......i think we are all going to have to re-think our procedures
