Hi Steve, I don't like doing cam belts anyway, what with all the things that can go wrong while you're doing it AND afterwards. The other week I did a Mondeo cambelt, staightforward enough, but while I was there he said could I do one on a late Fiesta 1.25 Zetec. I explained that the bottom pulley and the cog weren't keyed onto the crankshaft and I didn't have the special tool to do it but he talked me into it! So after stripping it down the only way I could re-time it was to take out number 1 plug and by using a DTI gauge down the plug-hole onto the piston to get TDC. All went well and the car burst into life, sorted! Two days later he phones me up complaining that the car now runs terribly and it wasn't like that before! So back I go armed with the correct tool which I bought just to make sure. I insert the timing pin and turn the crankshaft until it stops against the pin, both camshafts line up perfectly! So now I start checking other things, although all the time he's insisting that it's only been like this since I touched it. After three hours of diagnostic time, which he doesn't want to pay for, I find it's the AFM, which he doesn't believe and doesn't want to buy! So I walk away. But I bet he's put an AFM on it now! Cambelts, sometimes I can do without them. Regards, Derek
