The days of points and condensors aren't a thing of the past for me at the moment,... I have a load of enthusiastic classic mini owners as customers. Grills off, points gapped, dwell meter etc!!! It seems that us old school mechanics have had to acquire knowledge of both old and new technology, probably giving severe strain to the remaining brain cells while some of our younger space cadet counterparts don't now how to deal with the old stuff, especially carbs and there are still a lot around. I took on an apprentice four years ago and made sure she (yes a female mechanic) gained skills in both old and new technology. Yep it might be easier to repair the modern motor car, but getting to that point of repair does make your head hurt as the boards on this site indicate. Dave
