I run an auto electrical business on the south coast and have just taken on a workshop after 11 years "on the road" I've got two problems at the moment. The first one is obviously the cost. My hourly rate has increased dramatically to go towards the overheads. The other is that as I've offered a mobile service for so long, all my existing customers expect me to go to them. Whilst I'm happy to oblige with my trade customers up to a point, I am trying to insist that all my retail work comes to me. I read an advert in one of the major car mags, advertising one of the biggest alarm manufactures. In it they stated that they will fit one of these alarms at your work place or home, apparently anywhere in the UK. My experience is that alarm system fits are not an easy job to do in some carpark somewhere in the rain etc and can in my opinion only be fitted to a satisfactory standard in a workshop with the correct facilities. I'm not disputing the facts that there are some first class technicians out there who work mobile, but I don't think that anyone can argue that you can't beat the facilities available at a well set up and managed workshop. At least it gets you at of the rain!
