On arival flap was "stuck" fully open and engine flooded
with flap freed and plugs dried out engine started but would not rev. Further investigation revealed that throttle flap would not move (though, interestingly, operating the throttle would raise speed from idle to around 1800, I gues there is a separate idle speed system on this)
Atempting to drive the flap using the multiscans "Actuator" function also resulted in no movement. though moving the flap by hand proved that the TPS was functioning.
I saw this about a month ago with stuck throttle and heavily gummed up. on that occasion freeing and cleaning sorted it. Now it seems to be a perminant fault (can the actuators "burn out" on these if they stick??)
Now I would have liked to check out voltages/resistances/waveforms etc before sending unit off to BBA (or whoever) but there is a lack of information from the useual sources!
Q1 Does anybody have access to pin/wiring data?
Q2 The EGR system is utterly clogged, is there any need/advantage to dissassemble and clean it (bearing in mind that this would be a lot of work on an old car) or would it be best left well alone?
Q3 Is there any liklyhood that this is an ECU fault rather than a throttle body one? (I have read much on throttle issues on MIT GDI systems but, untill now, I have never actually seen one. As ever it is the LACK OF INFORMATION from you_know_who that is the main frustration!)
Happy (and prosperous) new year all!
