i,e if the problem is the key, Transponder ariel or UCH then you might be able to get the ecu made free running, But if the problem is a faulty ecu or faulty wiring / relays to the ecu then bypassing the immobiliser wouldn't be of much use.
And Yes, The Customer always thinks its a good Idea to just take the immobiliser off as they think that its the cheapest option and it cured their mk 3 Escort that way.
We would spend 1-2 hours checking it over and most likely repair the car rather than trying to bypass anything.
The only thing that would cause us any major problem would be a faulty ecu, The other stuff would be relatively easy to replace. ( keys, UCH, Transponder ariel, wiring , relays etc.
These cars used to be a headache for us but they are usually fairly straight forward to repair now. ( Except the ones with throttle body problems )
P.S Whats happening to the immo LED with the ignition on, is it Stopping on, going out or flashing rapidly.
