I am happy to receive constructive criticism but I get thoroughly p....d off when people try to tell me how to do my job. As you are probably aware, I am a mobile operator and this customer lives 25 miles away from me over a tolled bridge. His car is not available until the weekends and therefore it is neither cost effective nor practical to find out the engine code before my next visit. I know EXACTLY where the engine code is on the vehicle and I would not ask him to go hunting for it. I merely asked him to check his vehicle documents to see if it was there.

I see nothing wrong in asking the customer a question in order to answer queries posed by the more helpful members on the forum.

Finally, I would be grateful if you find you cannot respond in a more positive manner to anything I post, then you keep your comments to your self.
