Surprisingly Jim, Kia would cover an electrical defect of this type providing it's a manufacturing defect (i.e. not left out in a flood for 3 weeks)!

Not so long ago, I've changed a dual mass flywheel on a 92k mile 57 plate Ceed. Warranty covered the flywheel and slave cylinder (manufacturer would expect it to last >100k miles), but wouldn't cover the clutch at that age. Customer paid for his own clutch.

Sedona 58 plate 3 years out of warranty, oil pump drive failed = known concern. Engine and turbo seized.
Kia supplied brand new items (not recon)
