    Hi Mark

    Who's upset you today

I DID NOT say your info was Duff, I just said that i tended to agree with Alan's thoughts.

I don't doubt your fix rate on this type of fault or diagnostic code. It's is just that I have never had a upstream sensor failure that has lead to or caused the fault P0420.

You can rest assured that I to live in the very real world of vehicle diagnosis , I tried to explain the reasons behind the theory so on lookers would have a better overall general understanding of whats going on. I thought thats what technical groups were about, maybe things have now changed and I'm still set in the good old days of technical discussions.

The most common occurrence I have found for DTC P0420 is were the O/E has been replaced with a aftermarket CAT for what ever reason. Then under warranty they change the CAT for another unit, and tell the customer the CAT is ok its fault with the car. Normally both Lambda sensors are changed and it still logs P0420. Then the CAT is changed for a O/E CAT and bingo fault never appears again. I keep seeing this over and over again.

    chill out a little
