Sorry for delay in responding but had a late one last night I will first confirm that it is a 1600. The fan only operates constantly with the engine running. I am able to run the fan with ign on using ACR. Live data for coolant temp using ACR appears to be correct (right through the temp range). The oil temp is also correct. Again using ACR I have 4 codes. 0481 Unknown code 0532 Air con pressure sensor, short circuit to ground. 1539 Unknown code. 0500 VSS, test incomplete for this dtc. The original ecu was tested by ATP who told me that it was not responding to the cts. I took their advice and ordered a replacement, which according to dealer is the correct part number and is also the same as the original. I dont know if testbook is able to reconfigure an old ecu or not but it definitely wont configure the new one, even for the immobiliser. At this stage I am no nearer to knowing if it is the ecu or the vehicle that is the problem. The ecu appears to be at fault so it should be a simple case of a new one but as we are all aware nothing is that simple! Perhaps I should go back to plan A and fit a kenlow switch! Many thanks, Bryan.
