Ok, rebuilt engine now. All four pistons were oiled up but the plugs were clean. The oil control rings werent really high quality, and the 2 compression rings had turned and the gaps had almost lined up which would probably explain the compression loss. Have very good compressions now, all four go straight up to 170psi very quickly.

So thats cured the compression problem and the oil usage problem which it was originally booked in for a couple of months ago, before this misfire fault happened (before anyone comments on that).

And just for the little people who commented on the vehicle not being worth it, the bill came to about £300 all in ! If the tappet adjusters were wound all the way in and the engine was noisey then it would have been a little higher.

But still have the misfire under load and the speedo playing about at the same time. ECU still showing 'VSS intermittent' and 'Cyl 2 misfire detected'. Spark plugs are new, but i have swapped them to see if misfire moves. May try new coil soon.
