    I take it that when you say little people you are refering to my comments. As we have already mentioned this forum is about sharing experiences so I was merely passing on mine. I did say that you probably wouldn't agree with me but at the end of the day the car still doesn't run correctly. The cost of materials (gaskets, oil, filter, anti-freeze and rings) must be about £150 with the VAT which doesn't leave a lot for yourself. By the time you take into account the diagnostic time, and I would imagine a lot of discussion with the customer along the way, you must be near to a days work. What I will say is that I also get niggled by these jobs and often do it for next to nothing just because I am stubborn enough to want to get to the bottom of the fault. I am old enough to have spent a lot of time doing engine rebuilds (mk1 cortinas a speciality of mine) but I just don't think its worth it anymore unless it is a relatively young car. No offence meant and I hope you get to the bottom of the problem.
