Hi John, please accept my apologies for my previous post. As the extremely knowledgeable Brian has pointed out, the MOT criteria for testing these cars is unusual. The fast idle rpm for all 2.0 306's is as follows:- Fast Idle min rpm 2000, max 2,500. Fast Idle max c.o. 0.3 max, lambda .97 - 1.03. Natural Idle c.o. 0.5 max. As you can see from these figures it would probably fail the B.E.T. (Basic Emissions Test), and the figures have been doctored accordingly. I think that if you tested again at just over 2000rpm (2010), it would probably pass the test. At the end of the day that is the prime objective, the why's and wherefores are immaterial.
