I think your claim that 'globalism' is something 'nobody wants' is a massive exaggeration. Ordinary people have always been disempowered, are today and probably always will be. One can't simply ignore the substantial economic and, not least, social progress, modernity, that's happened in Ireland over the last fifty years which coincides with EU membership. The material standard of living for the Irish has gone up and, especially, in Northern Ireland where noth London and the EU have pumped billions into the economy. The idea was simple, lift the living standards of ordinary people so they won't be such easy prey for extremists. This isn't to say that Ireland is a utopia, like most places there are still challenges, only that it's been transformed from what it was.
