I don't see anything too romantic in any of Marx's economic or political tracts, unless we look at one or two of his histories. However, democratic syndicalism, informed by Marx, offers much, namely, a replacement to the Capitalism you seem to like, I mean, you are keen on the EU, who's economic prescriptions are dire for most workers - still, its a lovely institution. Marx was correct in his analysis, namely that Capitalism digs its own grave for all its practitioners ultimately, regrettably we also have environmental degradation that digs every humans grave courtesy of Capitalism, or State Capitalism, which China practices to a large degree, as did the Soviet Union, but democratic syndicalism does not undermine Marx and may offer a utopia of sorts, namely whereby all hyman life becomes important, rather than disposable for profit.
