I'm very sympathetic with this perspective. You can't make an oligarch-run predatory capitalist system "green". Without placing a class-based transformation of the economic/political system at the heart of the movement it becomes little more than a mildly-reformist instrument of the status quo: which would explain the apparent establishment support. In the city I'm residing in now there is an environmental group that has been very active on a whole range of issues for decades - and done some great work, too - but has always resisted a radical political analysis, probably with an eye on its funding. It ends up advocating regressive and irresponsible policies on things like electricity rates which undermines its own credibility. These things are inseparable.
