Slightly misleading, I think. Burning wood results in emitting the CO2 that it sequestered during its lifetime, whereas the city will be burning mined fossil fuels that add to the atmospheric total. There are probably other factors like what form of vegetation will replace the burned forests and how long before that burns anew but in theory all that CO2 will get re-absorbed by the regrowth over the course of time (indeed, young primary woodland supposedly absorbs CO2 at a faster rate than old-growth). cheers, I
