I suspect that there will be a sudden drop off of fossil-carbon mining, D, as Seneca's Cliff Archived Message

looms ever closer. I still find The Thirty Year Update of TLTG to be the most reliable broad-trend indicator of which I know. Like Julian Assange, it seems to have been broadly right on every single trend that it surveyed and projected forward. It sees a serious population fall getting underway in the middle part of this century. This in turn is brought on by the steady disintegration in the first part of the century of the global networks that currently sustain food production, amongst other key, bedrock-essential services. The picture isn't definitively clear, but peak coal seems to be either here already, or very close. Coal mining, like 'renewable' energy systems, is critically dependent on liquid fossil-hydrocarbon fuels, to function at all. And the liquid FH mining outfits are - right now - running full tilt into the EROEI brick wall. First the wall, then the bloody cliff! Ochone, ochone lemmings: No more PROGRESS and growthforever...! PS: I do understand that the lemmings-leaping-off-cliffs thing is a Disney lie.
