The US has invested so much passion and time on this, they're not going to back down and the UK will continue to behave as it has all along as a compliant accomplice. First, Assange is imprisoned for 50 weeks commencing 1st May. He therefore is not due for release until mid-April next year. He'll not be released earlier. Some compliant prison authority, parole committee or judge will be found to ensure this. Secondly, his extradition hearing will also be tainted by ensuring he is judged by compliant judges. . Thirdly, no Tory Home Secretary will refuse his extradition. Two things might change this, one - public opinion if it can be swung in his favour - I don't think this is likely, what with Brexit no-one in the UK seems to be paying attention to anything else. The poisoning of Assange's reputation and honour has been incredibly effective. The other is a general election with Labour in power - possible, but nothing is guaranteed. Actually, one other thing might change this and that's Assange dying in prison.
