Global addiction to bulk soy products (from health foods to animal feeds- where it's largely unnecessary to feed livestock high protein supplements anyway) is probably responsible by way of supply vs demand and global capitalist motivations.
Rather than all blame to Brazil, sharing it, and cutting the demand for soy imports (millions of tonnes a year just into the uk), would be a good start.
