Only if you believe in the democratic fantasy of your government. As I said, it exists nowhere near the uk. A rep democracy based on gerrymandering is not even a rep democracy. If you believe it is you will also believe that if I put a tent up under a bridge near Buckingham palace then it's the same as living in the palace itself. If any vote is democratic it requires a uestion or choice, a majority rule (not weighted by wealth), and to be immutable. A referendum offers the first two, and if it offered the third would be an example of democracy. General voting offers exactly none of the three. There is no choice (a party that represents the people and one that represents the rich and one that represents big business might be a choice. Currently we have three that in varying amounts represent only the latter two options), there is no straight majority rule, and if it's wrong the powerful parties can always form a govt anyway. If you believe that is democracy you are incorrect.
