All I meant was that for us it's more of an academic question because we're not directly faced with the state's violent repression. It's part of our privilege that that particular intensity of violence has been exported to other areas on the planet. I think CM made it clear he was talking about moral rights of resistance rather than advocating particular tactics. It sounds like you see a lack of seriousness in that; I found it refreshing to have the principle of violent resistance defended, like whenever somebody bravely stands up for the right of Palestinians to defend themselves militarily against Israeli aggression. Maybe it's just because I've been spending too much time among nonviolent absolutists in XR that it was nice to see somebody mention that there might be other acceptable things to try after the inevitable failure of civil disobedience to take down the oil economy... re: the 'rational recognition of the insurmountable disparity of the means of violence and the foolishness of pretending that disparity is surmountable' - there are plenty of tactics to choose from in the history of asymmetrical warfare before you go toe-to-toe with the state's military might. Though I quite like the image of Diplomat Craig marching down on Madrid with his AK47! cheers, I
