No worries, I think we were mainly saying the same things just in slightly different ways. Maybe asymmetric tactics are doomed to failure in the west, maybe not - it's been a while since they've been seriously attempted. I think there's a tendency to overestimate the state's capacity to respond to this type of action, though, especially if unpredictable and in multiple locations in quick succession. Have I pointed you to DGR before? Maybe I'll just leave this here before I say anything too incriminating... https://deepgreenresistance.org/ On your hypothetical question I would have maybe agreed in principle but left if they were going to embark on those tactics themselves. For an aboveground organisation, with all sorts of personal details freely available to anyone with an internet connection, to move into highly illegal, risky tactics is just begging for mass arrests and lengthy prison sentences, with the cops' work made ridiculously easy for them. Having established itself as an aboveground mass movement XR should stay that way and keep a firewall between it and any underground organising. I know that in associating myself with XR I've basically disqualified myself for anything like that, which is a choice I made consciously for various reasons. Here's a good talk on the subject from Aric McBay:
cheers, I
