His sense of frustration is obvious; not just confined to the horrific election outcome but presumably the inability of the board to fulfil its purpose which was to challenge the all-important media and its Tory-fed narratives. To be fair the board did kind of do that, but it's hard to get much of a focus with the ongoing distraction of attention-grabbing personal promotions - whose subject matter was in direct conflict with the thin chance represented by Corbyn to at least slow down the juggernaut that is emerging. Ceemac is surely right that this was down to ego - how else can someone be happy to fuel the same personal squabble almost every day by bluntly putting themself at the centre of the discussion. Not to mention ever-increasing gloating at the outcome. BTW I don't know what Keith thinks he predicted but as far as I remember he has said nothing we didn't know already. We all know the Brexit realities and constraints Corbyn worked under - the whole state against him and no party underneath him, FFS. Maybe he should have had that epic battle for the soul of the party on day one when he had the chance, but the insults levelled at him here have ignored the realities and presented him as spineless - or a traitor, as if he was the same as Tony Blair. Of course, he couldn't really be both but if you're promoting yourself then that doesn't matter. This reduced a complex situation to playground discourse. That said it's clearly unfair for Ceemac to level his own insults at the whole board, as if everyone had the same ego problem. I don't know what Dan thinks but I guess he's OK with all this. That's my (badly worded, I'm sure) view. |
