realise that all his oeuvre is written in the muscular English of Yorkshire - quite specifically. Sometimes you can even hear the accent bleeding through into his readings. Yorkshire English was my original learning ground for the language. Ted's glorious speech always seems like home to me... PS: Do you know 'Gaudete'? At treat in store if you don't. A great masterpiece of English-language poetry, now widely overlooked.
