before making any judgement. I think he's really trying to do that tricky thing - easy for Vulcan's but so against the natural psychology of hom sap - of considering with strict rationality ALL viewpoints and assertions with cold-blooded open-mindedness, and searching about to try to see what weight to put on each viewpoint: Are the data conclusive? And before that, how good are the data? If we're really in an unprecedentedly complex situation, where easy predictability is - speaking objectively - impossible, isn't Mallen's a duly meticulous stance to take? |
