I've got tired of contradicting Off Guardian's correspondents selective use of stats. Yes being breathless and dying of hypoxia is similar irrespective of the viral infectious agent (bacterial pneumonia looks different on a cxr). If the most viral pneumonia I would admit in an on call call week was 2 and by comparison when it was bad a month ago 30 people were being admitted a day of an unspecified viral pneumonia either it's Corona virus or another pandemic infection that's seeping the country. I feel qualified to say the 100 patients admitted had Corona and maybe 2 of them the unspecified one. What else have they been admitted with. In the community it's the same. My wife usually has slightly more than 1 death a month. Two weeks ago 12 of her patients died in 10 days. Frail elderly people dying at home after reporting viral symptoms. They're is no need for lockdown but targeted isolation requires a strategic plan. Still not enough tests to be safe.
