Following several admissions to the ward after A&E emergencies, I attempted to pre-empt any further calls on the local DGH. (I had surgery to remove a thyroid cancer which involved the LH laryngeal nerve causing the LH vocal cord to become paralysed closed across my airway. It was followed by six weeks of radiotherapy every weekday which burnt the skin off my neck. Iodine-131 administration too.)
When the Covid outbreak took place, I asked my GP who is new to the practice, and to me, to categorize me as 'vulnerable' so that I could easily access online shopping for food from the local supermarkets which is well nigh impossible, even to log on, due to the demand.
He refused point blank, giving no reason. So now I have to make the odd foray to one or the other supermarket wearing a face mask and feeling quite frightened of contracting the disease. There is nothing worse than struggling to breathe. I bought my own nebulizer for use at home with the saline too.
Why did he make that decision? He was quite categorical. It would have been no skin off his nose.
