YoU should just carry on as 'normal' because the individual has no influence on the trajectory of global climate collapse. Virtually everything people are encouraged to do to reduce their carbon footprint, is meaningless, apart from massaging or grooming people imagine that re-cycling and less consumption can be mitigated by 'green' behaviour. It can't and it won't. Our global market system doesn't give a monkey's about what little people do as individuals. It's more than an irrelevance. It's a fantasy for Guardian readers, who know nothing about economics.
The rich and powerful have never consumed more than they do now, or have never flown as much and gone on holliday to exotic places. If one was serious about saving the planet, one would sacrifice the rich, because their consumption is so colossal, why leave more resources for them to access? Introduce world-wide rationing... pronto and abandon economic growth in the rich countries, we've had our share after all, now it's the turn of the giant third-world countries to consume their fair share. Unfortunately, this isn't going to happen, sigh.
